Be Still And Know

I

felt my shoulders hunch over.  I felt my sweaty hands cup over my face. I felt the warm tears flow off my cheeks onto the floor.  I felt like my insides were crushing from within.  Sorrow, worry and distress filled my soul.  Discouragement. Negative thoughts. Downcast, gloomy attitude. I felt broken from all that life seemed to offer.  Life struggles were coming at me from every angle.  I felt my legs go shaky and weak and fell to me knees….broken.

As I cried out to the Lord a verse of scripture came to my mind.  “The Lord is close to the broken-hearted and saves those who are crushed in spirit.”   In my breaking point, I called out to the Lord in deep sincerity.   As my heart pleaded out, I heard Him speak… I see you hiding in the shadows.  I know the pain, your secrets, your crushed hopes, your shattered heart.  I know you are afraid.  I know the conflicts that are weighing on your soul.  I know your grief.  I understand your loss. Come into the great big hands of Jesus. 

 

you will not know all that I have for you, until  you let go... surrender everything to Me. 

As I crawled in, there was this overwhelming feeling of protection and love. I stopped and became still.  I said, Lord, “ I am here. I am still. I am listening.”  As He spoke to me, He said you are here, and it makes my heart so full of joy.  To know me, you must be still - but my dear daughter, the word “still” doesn’t mean to be quiet and stop moving.  “Still” means to surrender. Give up control. Stop fighting.  I could feel Him whispering …. You are here so tired and weak – but now you are still holding on. You must let go. Release. Cease your grip.  Stop trying to do my work.

I listened as He whispered to me… you are trying to control what you cannot control.   You are seeing the mountains instead of looking to Me - the ONE who made the mountains.  Can you trust me enough to reveal myself to you?  Protect you?  Be your hiding place? Care for you? Meet all your needs?  Help you through your troubles? Be your comforter? 

You will not know all that I have for you until you let go – surrender everything to Me.  You are standing in the way.  Step back.  No more pride.  No more wanting to be right.  No more “I”.  No more conflict.  No more trying to figure things out.  No more of anything but Me.  When you become still, I will reveal myself to you in ways you never knew.  Acknowledge me – who I am and what I can do. 

Psalm 46:8-11  "Come behold the works of the LORD, how He has brought desolations on the earth.  He makes wars cease to the end of the earth, He breaks the bow and shatters the spear; He burns the chariots with fire.  Be still and know that I am God.  I will be exalted among the nations, I will be exalted in the earth.  The Lord of hosts is with us; the God of Jacob is our fortress."

God was speaking to Israel in a time of war – struggle – fear – battle and He tells them to stop – stop fighting and look up to Him.  Remember who HE is.  Wake up Israel – I am on your side! 

BE STILL

Be weak and surrender everything to Me.  Stop fighting.  Stop trying to do my work. Look to Me and only Me.   Let go and remember Who I am.

AND KNOW

My strength is here. I am your refuge. No need to fear because I am with you.   I am here – the King of the entire universe - to fight for you.  Step back, stop and acknowledge Me.  Let me handle the chaos.  Wake up! I am on your side.

Be still – and know - and you will understand

THAT I AM GOD

Omnipotent– I am all powerful.  I will fight your battles - you cannot lose

Omnipresent – I am everywhere. There is no place I will not be with you.

Omniscient – I am all knowing.  I know what is ahead and I’ve got it.

Omnibenevolent – I am all loving.  I will only do what is best for you – ALWAYS.

Eternal – I am endless – everlasting.  I will be with you continually.

 

BE STILL ...   AND KNOW...    THAT I AM GOD.
