RADIUM, BC

Travelling into Radium, BC you are greeted by these towering rock walls.  Arriving at sunrise, the suns glow light up the rock into vibrant color.

Radium Hot Springs, commonly called Radium, is a small village of under 800 residents situated in the East Kootenay region of British Columbia about 1.5 hours from Banff, AB.  The village is named for the hot springs.

Golf, ski, hike, watch wildlife, or soak in the expansive hot pool or cool pool.   

Radium's vision is to remain an authentic, environmentally-focused mountain resort community.

POIPU, HAWAII

This natural bridge is hidden in the towering cliffs off the coast of Kaua'i.  Thundering waves crash under the bridgw and up onto the cliff walls leaving your face kissed by the fine ocean mist.  

If ever in Poipu (which means 'crashing waves' in Hawaiian) area, this little hike is worth the view.

 

PORTEAU COVE, BRITISH COLUMBIA

Located on the Sea-to-Sky Highway about 40 km north of Vancouver, you can stop to view the most southerly fjord in North America.  


Porteau Cove is located on the Howe Sound and provides picnic sites, camping, swimming, and a boat launch.

If you are into scuba diving this is the ideal place as there are a series of artificial reefs and sunken vessels to explore. 

CANMORE, ALBERTA

The Three Sisters are a trio of peaks near Canmore, Alberta.  Individually, they are known as:  The Big Sister - Faith, The Middle Sister - Charity, and The Little Sister - Hope.

The big sister is 9,632 feet and it is a moderate climb from the southwestern slopes.  The middle sister is 9,084 feet and is an easier climb from Stewart Creek. The little sister is 8,840 feet and is a difficult ascent requiring technical and highly advanced climbing skills.

Stay flat on the ground and view the beautiful sunrises that illuminate the mountain peaks.

 

WHIFFEN SPIT, VANCOUVER ISLAND

Whiffen Spit extends out into Sooke Harbor and is a wonderful walk with scenic views of Juan de Fuca Strait.  

This easy, flat walk is great for dog walking and seeing a wide variety of birds and wildlife.  

Rest on the benches along the way and enjoy the beautiful British Columbia skies.

THE COTTAGES, SALT SPRING ISLAND

The Cottages on Salt Spring Island is a captivating resort community with a unique lakeside setting.

The Cottages are well situated only a short 2 km drive from downtown Ganges - which is the hub of the island. 

Beautiful accomodations overlooking the fresh water lake provide a relaxing getaway.  Birds and wildlife greet you from sunrise to sunset.   Utilize the dock with the provided canoes and paddleboards. 

Local artisan farmers are the highlight of the area.  

 

JOSHUA TREE, ARIZONA

Joshua Tree National Park in Southern California is a must see when visiting Palm Springs.  

The park is named for the Joshua Trees native to the Mojave Desert.  The park includes parts of 2 deserts - the higher Mojave Desert and the lower Colorado Desert.

Not only great for photography, this 790,636 acre park offers hiking trails, bike trails, camping, rock climbing, and driving day trips.  This is the place for unique birds and wildlife....tree frogs, golden eagles, roadrunners, quail, lizards, snakes, coyote, lynx and many more. 

There is a great coffee shop in town that serves up amazing Joshua Tree coffee.  Very worth the stop if you like coffee.  

SEDONA, ARIZONA

This chapel is an architectural landmark of Sedona, Arizona.  Designed by Marguerite Brunswig Staude, the Chapel of the Holy Cross was completed in 1956.  

There is a surreal effect as it poses out of the two red rocks about 200 feet above the ground.

Hike up for more incredible views. 

 
 

SANDCUT BEACH, VANCOUVER ISLAND

Lave you ever experienced the rare sighting of a waterfall at a beach?  

Travel along Highway #14 on Vancouver Island towards Shirley.  The well maintained parking lot is the perfect place to leave your vehicle for a 15 minute hike through the rainforest arriving on the beach!  

Hike a little further to find Sandcut Beach Waterfall...10-15 foot waterfall cascading onto the pebbly beach.  One of the cool things is being able to walk behind the waterfall and shoot pictures looking out.   

Great gem of Vancouver Island. 

OAHU, HAWAII

One of the palms trees of the gorgeous Hawaiian Islands.  Amazing constrast is provided against the tropical blue sky.    

 
 

HIGHWAY 89A - ARIZONA

Late September through mid October in Sedona, Arizona the fall leaves appear.  The beautiful rocks become the perfect backdrop for the vibrant autumn foilage.  Take a ride up highway 89A north to take in the expansive views.  

SLIDE ROCK STATE PARK - ARIZONA

Slide Rock State Park is located in Oak Creek Canyon about 7 miles from Sedona, Arizona.  It gets the name from a natural water slide formed by the slippery bed of Oak Creek.   As a working apple farm, you have the option of buying fresh from the tree apples on your way out.  

 
 

YELLOWSTONE NATIONAL PARK - MONTANA

Yellowstone National Park is the largest active geyser field in the world.  There are hundreds of colorful hot springs, pools and geysers.  Unique and fabulous to see - and provides a facial at the same time! 

SEDONA, ARIZONA

Sedona is known for the rock formations but when they light up at sunrise and sunset, it is truly stunning.  The cloud formations, and the rays of light that shine through, bring out the intense colors.  We found this quiet secluded spot that gave a great view of the Sedona valley at sunset.
